Private & School Cleanups

Save Our Shores offers beach cleanups to civic, business and school groups.

A SOS representative will meet each group for their cleanup in order to provide an educational presentation on marine debris and to distribute beach cleanup supplies. The first step is to fill out the beach cleanup request form below.

School Cleanups are often accompanied with a more in-depth presentation on the beach before the cleanup or in the classroom prior to the cleanup day. Read more about our plastic pollution curriculum and school programs. While we encourage students to take leadership roles in organizing cleanups and recruiting fellow students, we request that adult sponsors are our primary contacts in planning for school cleanups.

It’s easy to participate: All your group has to do is show up! A Save Our Shores’ representative will meet your group at the beach with all cleanup supplies. Ask your cleanup coordinator for suggestions on ways to minimize the impact of your group’s picnic or snack by using biodegradable wares or reusables instead of disposable plastics.

Locations for all private cleanups can be chosen by the group as long as the beach is publicly accessible and is within Santa Cruz, coastal San Mateo, or Monterey Counties.

To schedule a private cleanup: Submit your request form at least three weeks prior to your desired cleanup date. Contact cleanup@saveourshores.org for more information.

You will receive confirmation for your cleanup along with waiver forms to be distributed to each member of your group (participants under 18 need a parent/guardian signature). Bring the waiver forms with you to your cleanup.
