The Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance

Save Our Shores banded together 70 environmental organizations and businesses to create the newly formed Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance. The Alliance has one mission: to ban single-use plastic bags in each and every municipality and county surrounding the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

If you who would like to sign-on to the Alliance as a Supporting Business or a Supporting Member, please contact us today at lauren@saveourshores.org.

By passing bans on single-use plastic bags, the Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance will help protect hundreds of species of marine animals from suffocation or strangulation caused by plastic bag litter, provide a cleaner environment for residents & visitors to enjoy, help local businesses save money by discontinuing their use of plastic bags & lower cleanup costs incurred by local governments burdened by plastic bag litter.

Sign our petition in support of plastic bag bans all around the Sanctuary!

Representatives from the Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance will be meeting with city and county officials in all local jurisdictions surrounding the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to present data on plastic pollution and encourage them to put forth a single-use bag ban modeled after the ban adopted by the County of Santa Cruz.

Here on the picturesque Monterey Bay, banning single-use plastic bags will become an economic support system for our flourishing coastal industries such as tourism and recreation, while providing protections for our fisheries, marine animals, and coastal environment from the ever growing problem of plastic pollution in our oceans.

The County of Santa Clara, the County of Marin, the City of Santa Monica, the City of San Jose, and the County of Los Angeles have all recently approved single-use bag bans.

The time is NOW for the jurisdictions and counties surrounding the pristine Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to step it up and ban the bag! Find out more on the Plastic Bag Ban Report website...
